The Directorate operates a paper conservation lab, with services available to the
public. Treatment in the conservation laboratory can stop the self-destructive
elements found in most paper and prolong the life of cherished belongings. The lab's
primary mission is to restore and preserve records in the Sindh Archives' own holdings.
The conservation lab provides preservation techniques to care for original documents,
books, and photographs. Staff members work with various techniques, which include
stabilization, surface cleaning, de-acidification, ink fixing, lamination etc. We
ensure archival acid-free storage that prolongs the life span of our historic records
and manuscripts. The staff is available to answer questions and recommend the best
way to preserve historic and family records.
