Today the meeting was held between Dr. Zulfiqar Ali Shallwani, Secretary Information & Archives, Government Sindh and Mr. Abdul Hameed Akhund, Secretary Endowment fund Government Sindh.
Dr. Shallwani briefed Mr. Abdul Hameed Akhund about plan of reprinting of rare books on history, culture and literature of Sindh Mr. Abdul Hameed Akhund assured him Sindh Archives full financial and technical support in the regard
It was resolved that Sindh Archives will draft a M.O.U and a proposal on the subject . Mr. Roshan Ali Kanasro (Director of Sindh Archives) submitted a list of rare books on history, culture and literature of Sindh to Secretary Information Archives & Information Department and Mr. Abdul Hameed Akhund.
Zulfiqar Ali Shallwani, Secretary Information & Archives held a meeting with staff and officers Sindh Archives at Archives Complex today.
The meeting was unique and trend setting in a way that it was first time since long that Administrative Head of the Department spared time and asked every incumbent for introduction and apprised him of problems related to his / her profession.
He set a new trend and delivered scholarly lecture on the definition, importance and scope of the Archives. It was not only informative, but inspiring also. He assured the staff about their bright future in profession subject to their sincere, dedicatied and hard work. He advised them to observe regularity and punctuality. He hoped that Sindh Archives will play a role model for the learned bodies of Sindh and with the co-operation and dedication of staff and workers, Sindh Archives will achieve the position of research supporting as a unique learned body of Sindh.
The committee consist of Mr. Zulfiqar Ali Makhdom (Deputy Director of Sindh Archives) and Mr. Dr Dur Mohammad Pathan (Scholar ) paid visit to Public School Gadap, so as to invite students of school to visit Sindh Archives.
The committee was received by Professor Mohammad Yousuf Shaikh the Principal of Public School, who was brief about the history of Sindh Archives, its importance and uniqueness, The committee requested him to send students of Public School for visiting Sindh Archives.
Mr. Zulfiqar Ali Makhdom (Deputy Director Of Sindh Archives) presented Sindh Archives Publications and DVD containing the brief about the Archives.
A Meeting of the ‘Project Lead Committee’ was held on 30-12-2013, under the Chairmanship of Dr. Zulfiqar Ali Shallwani, Secretary Information & Archives Department in the Conference Room of Directorate of Sindh Archives. Dr. Kaleemullah Lashari, Dr. Dur Muhammad Pathan, Ravinder L. Jha and Mr. Roshan Ali Kanasro Director Sindh Archives attended the meeting
In this meeting PC-1’s on important projects were discussed and approved, new proposals for enhancing research activitities of the Sindh Archives were given final shape and it was also decided to impart training to the staff and in this regard services of Dr. Kaleemullah Lashari and Dr. Dur Muhammad Pathan will be availed. Further it was decided to obtain material on oral archives from individuals and institutions and to include research topics such as ‘Collector-ate wise and district wise’ & identification of ‘Source Material on Antiquities etc’ available in Sindh Archive, in research scheme of the Sindh Archives.
It is was resolved that Dr. Zulfiqar Ali Shallwani, Secretary Information and Archive will pay visits to universities in Sindh along with officers of the Sindh Archives to create liaison on research and introducing archives among new generation and discuss the MoU’s upon the research projects of mutual interests.
The meeting of the Project Lead Committee Sindh Archives was held today with Dr. Zulfiqar Ali Shalwani, Secretary to the Govt. of Sindh for Information & Archives. It was attended bu Dr. Kalimullah Lashari, Dr. Dur Muhammad Pathan, Roshan Ali Kanasro (director) & Zulfiqar Ali Makhdoom.
The meeting discussed, reviewed and modified various proposed A.D.P Schemes of the Sindh Archives to be submitted to te Govt. for approval and necessary action.
It was decided that various educational institutes will be invited for visiting Sindh Archives and on that occasion exhibition of photographs, historical documents and other items will be arranged, young generation will be briefed about records relating to their glorious past so as to create interest for historical documents & monuments. The meeting ended with thanks to and from the chair.
Sindh Collection comprising 5429 old government publication and books, including rare books, has been acquired by Sindh Archives from Punjab Archives on 29-3-2010. This collection and other record files were shifted to Punjab Archives in the sixties during era of one unit. After reconstitution of provinces "A" class files of records had been transferred to Sindh Archives. The matter for shifting of this record was pending. On the initiatives of Special Secretary, Sindh Archives it was decided in a meeting of concerned Secretaries of both provincial governments that whole Sindh collection will be trasnferred to Sindh Archives. This decision has been implemented.
The important collection include gazetteers, administration reports, proceedings of conferences, census reports, memoirs, assembly debates etc. The complete lists of all material will be promulgated soon. These records will be available for study of researchers after completion of enlistment / cataloguing.
