This service includes preservation of a “collective memory.” Specifically, it entails
a commitment to participate in efforts to preserve the past for future. The goal
of our preservation policy is to preserve the collection so that items can be accessed
and used by future generations - by historians, researchers, members of the public
and the media. The Section provides preservation and increased access for the collections
housed here and other records across the Province. These services include microfilming,
digital imaging, document restoration and preservation, and photographic duplication.
The extensive microfilming program preserves records both traditional and digital,
newspapers, and manuscript collections.
